HR for manufacturing

HR and payroll software for factories and production lines

Nexa People turns biometric punches into a daily record for every worker, judged against their own shift. Overtime, piece work and leave flow into one payroll run, so month-end is a review, not a rebuild.

  • Biometric shift attendance
  • Piece rates and overtime
  • One payroll for every line

01Shift attendance

Every punch, judged against the shift the worker is on

Fingerprint and face terminals at the gate push punches to Nexa People as they happen, and the templates never leave the device. Each punch is checked against that worker's own shift, with its grace minutes, breaks and rules for late, early, short-day, half-day and absent. Night shifts that cross midnight count as one working day, so the morning after is never a mess of half records.

  • ZKTeco, Suprema, eSSL, Hikvision and other terminals
  • Overnight shifts counted as a single working day
  • Monthly rosters rolled out to a whole line, or uploaded from a spreadsheet

02Piece work

Pay for output at the agreed rate, with nothing added up by hand

Supervisors record each worker's quantity against an item or task from your rate catalogue, and Nexa People works out the amount as they type. Entries move from pending to approved to paid, and every worker is notified when their entries change. You choose whether piece work is paid with payroll or separately, and managers only ever see their own team's entries.

  • A rate catalogue of items and tasks, per piece or per dozen
  • Quantity × rate, recalculated on every edit
  • Separate permissions to approve, reject and pay

03Factory payroll

Lates, overtime and absences settled by your rules, not by a clerk

Payroll reads the month straight from attendance. Approved leave turns would-be absences into leave days, holidays and weekly offs are skipped, and your deduction rules decide what a late or a missing punch costs. Overtime is paid only from approved requests, at your rate per category, and you can run hourly and daily-wage workers on a weekly setup while staff stay monthly.

  • Different payroll setups for workers and staff
  • Overtime paid only once it's approved
  • Draft, Processed and Paid, with holds in between

Every day

The rest of the factory floor, covered

The jobs that sit around shifts and pay, in the same system and on the same employee record.

01

Fast onboarding for new intakes

Bring a new batch of operators in from your own spreadsheet, up to 500 at a time, then give each one a checklist of tasks with owners, documents to verify and a probation period.

02

Leave that respects the line

Annual, sick, unpaid and compensatory leave for overtime and holiday work, with half and quarter days. Approved leave shows as On Leave in attendance, never as an absence.

03

Clean exits and final settlements

Record the exit once and clearance and the exit interview queue themselves. The final settlement is itemised from live salary, leave and loan data, and previewed before it's saved.

04

Training records you can show

Run programs by category, from compliance to technical skills, schedule sessions with internal or external trainers, and keep completion dates on record for every operator.

How it runs

How a pay period runs in a factory

From the first punch of the month to the payslip on a worker's phone.

  1. 1

    Every shift

    Punches arrive and are judged

Terminals push punches as workers clock in and out. Each day is marked present, late, short or absent against the worker's own shift, including overnight shifts.

  2. 2

    End of week

    Supervisors record output

Piece work entries are logged for each worker and item, priced from the rate catalogue and sent for approval. Workers are notified about each entry.

  3. 3

    Day 25

    Requests are cleared

Missed punches, shift transfers and overtime requests are approved through your chain of up to five levels, so the records payroll reads are final.

  4. 4

    Payday

    Payroll runs and is approved

Nexa People builds a draft payslip for each worker from attendance, leave, overtime and approved piece work. Finance reviews, holds anything doubtful and marks the run paid.

  5. 5

    After payroll

Reports go to the people who need them

Attendance and payroll reports, filtered by station, department and shift, are emailed as CSV files on a schedule, and the period is closed.

In depth

How HR software helps manufacturing companies

A factory's HR problem is mostly a volume problem. A few hundred operators on three rotating shifts produce thousands of punches a week, and each one has to be matched to the right shift before anyone can say who was late, who left early and who worked extra. When that matching happens in a spreadsheet, it is done in a rush at month-end by someone who wasn't on the floor. Nexa People does it as the punches arrive. Biometric terminals push each punch to the system, and every day is judged against that person's shift, its grace time and its rules, so the record is already clean when payroll needs it.

Pay in manufacturing rarely comes from one source. A machine operator might earn a daily wage, overtime on a Sunday shutdown and a piece rate on top. Nexa People keeps these apart until the payslip brings them together. Overtime is paid only from approved requests, at the rate you set for each category. Piece work is recorded per worker and item, priced from a catalogue and approved before it can be paid. Payroll setups let hourly and daily-wage workers run on one schedule while monthly staff run on another, each with its own deduction rules.

Shift work also creates a steady flow of small requests. A worker forgot to punch out after a double shift. Two operators want to swap from night to day. A gate queue after a power cut made a whole team late, and the lateness should be excused. In Nexa People each of these is a request with its own approval chain of up to five levels, and nobody can approve their own. Once approved, the record updates itself. Penalty rules can handle repeat lateness by deducting from leave balances, so the policy is applied the same way on every line.

Factories hire in batches and lose people steadily, so onboarding and exits matter as much as payroll. Nexa People imports a new intake from the spreadsheet you already have and lists exactly which details each person still owes, instead of refusing rows. Each new joiner gets a checklist with owners and due dates, and their documents move from pending to verified before the first payroll. When someone leaves, the exit is recorded once, clearance is queued and the final settlement is calculated from live pay, leave and loan data.

Plant managers and finance teams need numbers they can trust without asking HR for them. Nexa People includes 100 live reports across HR, attendance, leave and payroll, filtered by station, department, cost centre and shift, and a dashboard with a live in-and-out feed. Any report can be emailed as a CSV on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule. If you'd rather ask, the Nexa AI agent answers questions such as who has missing punches this week, using your permissions, and asks before it changes anything.

FAQ

HR software for manufacturing: your questions

Anything else? Talk to our team.

Nexa People is built for the way factories work: biometric attendance judged against each worker's shift, monthly rosters for whole lines, overtime paid only from approved requests, piece rates priced from a catalogue, and one payroll that reads all of it. The right choice for you depends on your shifts and pay rules, so it's worth seeing it run against your own data.

With Nexa People, biometric terminals push each punch as it happens, and every day is judged against the worker's own shift, its grace minutes, breaks and rules for late, early, short-day and absent. Overnight shifts that cross midnight count as one working day. Rosters can be assigned to a whole team for the month or uploaded from a spreadsheet.

In Nexa People, overtime is raised as a request and paid only once it's approved, at the rate you set for each overtime category. Payroll picks up the approved hours automatically, so nobody types them into a spreadsheet. Compensatory leave can also be given for overtime and holiday work if your policy prefers time off to extra pay.

Yes. Nexa People records each worker's quantity against an item or task with a rate per unit, such as per piece or per dozen, and calculates the amount automatically. Entries are approved before they can be paid, and you choose whether piece work is paid with payroll or separately. Workers are notified each time an entry changes.

Nexa People works with ZKTeco, Suprema, eSSL and Hikvision terminals, along with other devices that can push punches to its API. Devices sync automatically on a timer or on demand, and fingerprint and face templates stay on the device rather than being stored in the system.

Yes. Nexa People lets you keep several payroll setups, each with its own pay schedule, salary type, tax rules, overtime and deduction rules. Hourly or daily-wage workers can run weekly or bi-weekly, while staff stay on a monthly setup. Each employee is mapped to the setup that matches their contract.

In Nexa People, the worker or their supervisor raises an attendance correction request. It goes through your approval chain, and once approved the daily record updates itself. Attendance can also be amended by employee or date range, or re-uploaded from Excel without creating duplicates.

Nexa People imports new joiners from your own spreadsheet, up to 500 people at a time, and creates missing departments and designations by name. Missing details don't block a row; you get a list of who still owes what. Each joiner then gets onboarding tasks with owners and documents to verify.

Yes, if you give them access. Nexa People has a live in-and-out feed on the management dashboard and 100 reports filtered by station, department, shift and cost centre. A permission matrix controls exactly who sees what, and any report can be emailed to managers on a schedule.
